Facts and Events
Co. D, 4th US Artillery, Civil War 1900 - Eldred, Pa. Austin (Potter Co.) PA. Autograph Feb. 2, 1888 Gilbert Moody had a narrow escape. He went to the woods to cut logs one day last week and cut a tree down. About two hours afterwards came to himself and found he had trimmed the tree and was trying to measure it for sawing when he discovered he had been badly hurt on the head and shoulders, and then made his way to the house. Upon persons visiting the spot it appeared the falling tree took down with it a small sapling which before the tree got to the ground sprang back striking him as above described knocking him down. How long he laid there he cannot tell, and knows nothing respecting the transaction only that he was hurt. He is now around but has a very sore head and shoulder. |
