- ↑ Onse Lieve Opa" Gerrit Runia passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2007. He was born October 22, 1924 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, to Gerrit and Ernestina Sipkema Runia. He married Adriana Sinjewel on Dec. 4, 1946 in Den Helder, The Netherlands. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 27, 1952. With their two young sons they immigrated to the United States leaving post-war Holland in February, 1951, to "Come to Zion" and to pursue the "American Dream". He was a reliable and an excellent salesman having had nine years experience as a Fuller Brush Man and 31 years as an agent for State Farm Insurance. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving the Lord faithfully in all his callings. He truly loved the Gospel. He is survived by his wife of "60" years, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one brother, one niece and four nephews. Funeral services will be held Sat. July 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Mesa Park Ward, 1850 East 8600 South. Friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial from 6-8 p.m., 3115 East 7800 South and from 10-10:45 prior to services on Saturday. Interment at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
