PUBLISHED: Wednesday, May 16, 2007 Geraldine Hoffmeyer Geraldine "Gerry" Hoffmeyer, 80, a longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in Father Murray Nursing Home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born March 23, 1927, in Detroit. Mrs. Hoffmeyer worked at Sears in Macomb Mall in the sales department for more than 25 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member and deacon of Peace Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader who loved to dance, and enjoyed traveling and watching NASCAR racing. She was an animal lover who was a big fan of John Wayne. "Above all she was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed," relatives said. She is survived by her children, Robert (Anne) and Grace Lynn Furno; grandchildren, David Furno Jr., Crystal Lapain, Gretchen (Derek) Brooks and Russell; great-grandchildren, Alexis Furno, Dylan and Dawson Brooks; and sister-in-law, Valerie Mohler. She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Grace Christina (nee Riley) Mohler; and siblings, Jay, Ella and Willard Mohler. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society, 296 Chalfonte, Grosse Pointe, MI 48236; or the Karmanos Cancer Society.
