"Waterville - Gerald C. Wardwell, 48, of 35 College Avenue, died at his home today after a brief illness. An employee of the Maine Central Transportation Company, he formerly lived in Portland. Mr. Wardwell was born in Augusta, November 6, 1901, the son of Mrs. Winnifred L. Wardwell and the late Roy L. Wardwell. He was graduated from Cony High School and the Bryant-Stratton School Providence, R.I., and attended the University of Maine. Besides his mother and his widow, Mrs. Lucy Brown Wardwell, he leaves a son, Raymond J. Wardwell and two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nelson C. Haskell, Portland; a brother, Leroy Wardwell, Portland, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from 3 William Street, Portland, with the Rev. Frederick H. Thompson, DD, of the Woodfords Congregational Church officiating. Internment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery." -Portland Press Herald 06 November 1950
