The Rev. Gerald Pasma, 87, of LaRue, Ohio, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to the late Andrew and Fannie (Ten Hoor) Pasma. On Dec. 7, 1945, he married Marian Hoebeke; she died in March 1979. On Jan. 15, 1980, he married Marion Hanschen, and she died Aug. 25, 2005. The Rev. Pasma was a Baptist minister for more than 40 years. In that time he served churches in Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana and Minnesota. He was a member of the 4th Baptist Church in Minneapolis. He was a World War II veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 1141st Quartermaster Company, 110th Bomb Group. He is survived by his sons, the Rev. Tim (Rebecca) Pasma of LaRue, Andrew G. (Deanna) Pasma of Singapore and Mike (Sandy) Hanschen of Laramie, Wyo.; his daughters, Miriam S. Pasma and Marnee (Rev. Bruce) Brandenburg, both of Minneapolis; 18 grandchildren; brothers, James (Faye) Pasma of Holland, Mich., Eugene (Lois) Pasma of Hudsonville, Mich., and Ted (Ethel) Pasma of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sisters, Grace (Marvin) Verwys of Grand Rapids, Eunice (Dale) Raar of Birmingham, Mich., and Faith Gauger of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by one son, Peter Hanschen, and two sisters, Lois Smith and Clara Pasma. (Yntze van der Honing 10 Aug 2006) |
