!OBITUARY: Obituary in "Sioux City Journal" newspaper on October 22, 2007. Gerald (Jerry), of Hinton, Iowa, passed away at his residence, on Friday, 19 October, 2007 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, 24 October, 2007, with Rev. Daniel Wittrock officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery. Becker-Hunt Funeral Home held visitation services from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, 23 October, 2007.

!HIGH_SCHOOL: Jerry attended high school at Heelan High School in South Sioux City and grade school in South Sioux City School.

INTERESTS: Jerry was involved in boxing and later was a trainer for Junior Golden Gloves. He also raised and trained horses. He was a self employed carpenter doing residential remodeling and construction. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and enjoyed playing pool and horse racing. He loved playing cards and dancing.

!SURVIVORS: Survivors include his wife, Penny; a son and his wife, Tony and Cherie Frazee of LaVista, Nebraska; three daughters, Tammy and her husband, John Oswald of Omaha, Penne Engel Fahmie of Pueblo, Colorado; and Lori Engel of Madera, California; three brothers, Bill Engel and Pat and his wife, Dee Engel, all of South Sioux City, and Corky and his wife, Mary Lou Engel of Osseo, Minnesota; a sister, Anna Marie and her husband, Mandel Britain of Sprague, Washington; seven grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Ian, Allison, Alex, Austin, and Emma; two Godchildren, Kelsie and Cody; and his companion, his apricot poodle, "Princess". He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jack, Vince, and Chuck.
