3 different individuals over the years have stated that Verne was the father of Gerald. One story indicates that Helen was in the hospital and sent word out to North Dakota that she was "knocked up" Victor Buisman came to Minnesota and Helen had his name added to Gerald's birth Certificate. Clayton says that he introduced Verne and Gerald to one another in the 60's. Gerald had no recollection of any meetings. Evelyn Anderson agreed that Verne was Gerald's father. Jerry Lundeen stated that his father believed that Verne was Geralds Father. Olive Sederberg of Harris store stated, "everyone knows who your father is, you walk like him and talk like him". Buisman of Harris died April 1, 2009 at his home, at theage of 75. DEATH: Jerry was born April 25, 1933 in Minneapolis. On Dec. 14, 1958 hemarried Orva Ann Smedsrud. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 untilbeing honorably discharged in 1954, earning the National Defense ServiceMedal. He worked at Anderson-Koch Ford in North Branch and then the FordAssembly plant in St. Paul until his retirement in 1994. Jerry was amember of First Lutheran church in Harris, the Harris Fire Department,and the American Legion. His life was centered on his children andgrandchildren whom he was proud of. Jerry suffered a stroke 14 years agoand lived out the remainder of his life in his apartment with the help ofhis children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his visits with Jim and Pete. DEATH: Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Vic and Helen Buisman,former wife Orva Ann, brothers Roland Johnson, Donald Buisman, cousinsSis Pietrick and Bob Knochke whom he was raised with. He is survived bysons Dale (Lucy) Buisman, Gary Buisman, daughters Carol (Mark) Piel, Dawn(Cary) Sederberg, grandchildren Erik, Justin (Sheena), Jacob, and EmilyPiel, Matthew and Gregory Sederberg, Heidi and Gerrian Buisman, SarahHerman, brother Wayne Buisman, many nieces, nephews and cousins. DEATH: Funeral services were held Friday, April 3 at First Lutheranchurch in Harris with Rev. Richard Mork officiating. Music was providedby Carolyn Holmstrom. Pallbearers were Jerry’s grandchildren. Militaryhonors were provided by the Harris American Legion. Private intermentwill take place at a later date. Arrangements were with GrandstrandFuneral Home. References
