Elsie Snyder Todd Miles

LIVINGSTON - Elsie Snyder Todd Miles, age 95, died of natural causes on Sunday morning, May 28, 2006, at Livingston Evergreen Health & Rehabilitation Center. Cremation has taken place. Born in Livingston on Aug. 4, 1910, Elsie was the daughter of George R. and Grace Drury Snyder. She was raised in Livingston with her two sisters, Marion and Gertrude. She graduated from Park High School in 1928 and from Business College in Minneapolis. Elsie married Stanley Glenn Todd in 1934 and they had one son, Stanley Glenn Todd, Jr. Stanley Sr. died in 1937, as a result of an accident. In 1947, Elsie married Daniel Nelson Miles and they had one son, Milo David Miles. Elsie worked for and eventually managed the A.W. Miles companies until she retired and closed the stores in 1980. In 1979, she married Jack Saunders, who passed away in the early 1990s from complications of Alzheimer's disease. In her youth, Elsie and her sisters went to many country dances around Park County. Well into her 70s, she finally realized a lifelong ambition to learn to play piano. Elsie was very active for many years in the Unity Truth Center, and often served as an officer for the church. She attended many Easter dinners at the local Elks and would never miss the Livingston Roundup Parade. She also enthusiastically participated in the Park County Pioneers, gradually moving up through the senior-ranking rows of seats until she became an Honorary President in 2006. Elsie was preceded in death by her husbands, Stanley Todd, Dan Miles and Jack Saunders; her sisters, Marion Snyder Pierson and Gertrude Snyder Miller; her nephew, Louis W. Pierson, Jr.; and her stepdaughter, Betty Jane Dietz. Survivors include her sons, Stanley Glenn Todd, Ph.D. (Kate) and Milo David Miles (Donna Wong); and her niece, Joyce Pierson Rumsfeld (Donald). She is also survived by her stepson, Bud Miles (Lucille); step-grandchildren, Dan Miles (Rita), Jim Miles and Bonnie Harry (Lee), Terry Dickenson (Ray) and Vickie Jo Kautenberger (Rod); and many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to thank all those at Evergreen Health Care who provided care to Elsie. We especially thank her dear friends, Anna Patterson and Teresa Livermore for their gentle love and kindness. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Elsie's life at the home of Stan and Kate Todd, 720 S. 11th St., Livingston, on Saturday, June 3, at noon.
