In 1669, George settled on land near Quidnesset Harbor (now Allen Harbor) in the extreme north-eastern part of the Quidnesset section. Closeby, after 1671, was the farm home of Catherine Westcott, who would later marry his son, Daniel. The old burying ground on the farm of George Wightman contains his grave and those of many of his descendants. As late as 1919, it was marked by a huge boulder on which is inscribed the years of his birth and death. This information taken from a book "History and Genealogy of the Ancestors and some Descendants of Stukely Westcott" incorporating and extending the research of the late Hon. J.
