    CHARLESTON -- George Washington I, 85, died Jan. 31 at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
    He was born in Beaufort County and received his education in the local public schools. He was a member of 2nd Gethsemane Baptist Church since 1948 and was an usher. He was the widower of Geneva Washington.

    SURVIVORS: five sons, Ernest Washington Sr. of Stuart Point, Edward Washington of Brooklyn, N.Y., Alex Washington of Delaware, Willie Washington of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and McKinley Washington of Tallahassee, Fla.; six daughters, Florence Reid of Greenville, Julia Washington of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Annie King of Tallahassee, Fla., Geneva Hutton of Milan, Italy, Willette Brown of Stuart Point and Annetta Washington of Baltimore; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

    FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Saturday at 2nd Gethsemane Baptist Church, burial in Stuart Point Cemetery.
