George was at Knebworth Lodge in 1874 and recorded as a Surveyor of Highways in 1837, 1840, 1845, 1846, 1850 and 1858. He was Overseer of the Poor in 1852, 1865, 1872 and 1880.

1841 - With mother at Codicote Bottom, Hertfordshire. Aged 25, born in the county.

1851 - With wife at Tithe Farm, Codicote, Hertfordshire. Farmer of 40 acres employing 2 men, aged 31, born at Codicote, Hertfordshire. Also at this address is nephew Edward CRANE, age 16, agricultural labourer (this is the son of Ann Maria's sister Eleanor who married Robert CRANE and had son Edward Pointon CRANE 1835 in Codicote).

1856 - From the Weekly Dispatch, Friday February 21 1856 under the heading "Dividends" an entry that reads "At the Court of Bankruptcy, Basinghall Street; G. TIDD, Codicote, Hertfordshire, corn dealer, March 14."

1871 - Widower, with 4 servants at Tithe Farm House, St Albans Road, Codicote, Hertfordshire. Farmer of 300 acres, employing 8 labourers and 6 boys, aged 50, born at Codicote, Hertfordshire.

1881 - With 2 servants at Tithe Farm, St Albans Road, Codicote, Hertfordshire. Farmer of 40 acres, employing 2 men and 2 boys, aged 58, born at Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

1891 - Head of household, with brother, widowed sister-in-law and a servant at Irish End, Codicote, Hertfordshire. Farmer, employer, aged 75, born at Codicote, Hertfordshire.

1892 - The Hertfordshire Mercury contained an obituary for George, mourners were listed. Age at death given as 76. Described as a farmer in will index, probate granted 6 May 1892 in London to William OVERELL farmer and Clara TIDD widow. Estate value was 750 pounds 7s. 1d.
