George Thumbwood was born in 1887 at Jabalpur in India, son of a private in the 6th Regiment of the British Army named George Thumbwood and his wife Eliza Bastock. By 1901 the family had returned to England, and were living at the district garrison in Colchester. George has yet to be researched after 1901.
