The Monroes that I personally knew, were a very good line and apparently good business people who owned good farms. They always built brick homes on their farms and also when they moved from the farm to the town of Bronson, there are 6 brick Monroe homes built by a generation or 2 ago.

I must tell you this interesting item since Halley's Comet is now in view. Have you seen it? If not, try to see it because it will be 75 years before it comes again. Now I saw it 75 years ago when I was visiting your grand-father (George Strang) home near Quincy on his farm. It was very clear because being on the farm there was no interference or any kind. I clearly remember seeing it and right where, on the farm, I stood to see it. Now your grand-father had a mare (horse) who had a colt at that time and do you know what he named the colt?–correct–"Halley". I suppose, as I remember, the colt grew to be a horse and I hope a nice horse.

from Thelma.
From Thelma Shaffmaster Dykhouse~~ The home of Electa and George Strang in Quincy was inherited from George's Dad, Daniel Strang. this is a story in itself:
The lovely farm home where Daniel Strang and his wife, Esther Monroe Strang, they lived in was inherited by her father, George Francis Monroe. George Monroe was a very well to do farmer and a fine man.
Esther never gave Daniel any ownership in the farm, but gave the farm to her 5 living children when she and Daniel moved off the farm to move to Quincy to live. The giving of the farm to the children made Daniel very upset. He told his wife, Esther: "If you give the farm to the children, they will have to bury you, I will not".
Thelma doubts that Esther's name was ever on the town property in Quincy. After Esther died, George and Electa moved into the home (pjh: in Quincy) and were given the property to take care of and they took care of Daniel the rest of his life. Daniel did remarry. That is one reason Esther did not want him to have the farm house, she wanted her to share in the property. All of this was told to Thelma by Dad (Art).
Because George Strang received the property in Quincy, he had to pay for her burial. Thelma remembers the 5 children receiving the (pjh: farm) property.
Also Esther Monroe Strang had a sister, Minerva and a brother, Milo Monroe. Esther and Minerva were close and Minerva did not have any children, therefore, she left her small home in Coldwater to Milo and to Esther's children. This caused problems plus grandfather's (Daniel) will caused family disagreement. Because of this, 5 children take sides to this day.
Thelma thinks that the children of George and Electa Strang and the children of the brother, Monroe (or better known as Roy) are not very friendly to each other up date. Thelma doubts they even know of her or her parents. This tells me (Norma) that there is a lot of feelings between Monroes and Strangs. WOW, what a story.
