    George J. Straka, 83, of Stroud Township, passed away Thursday, November 4, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Margaret "Peg" (Graver) Straka who died in 1994. Born on October 2, 1921 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Mary (Norko) Straka and had lived in Stroud Township since 1946. He had worked for the Monroe Dairy for 8 years; and was the office manager for Graver Trucking in Stroudsburg for 31 years retiring in 1985. He had also worked as a sales associate for Pinder Real Estate from 1970 - 1980. George was a veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater in the Coast Guard. He served on the Monroe County Drat Board from 1962 - 1972; was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Stroudsburg; a life member and Past Commander of the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars, East Stroudsburg; Past District Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 20th District, Monroe, Pike, Carbon and Northampton Counties; served on committees for the State and National Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was a life member of the George N. Kemp Post 346 American Legion, East Stroudsburg. He is survived by a daughter, Donna K. Straka of Stroudsburg; a grandson, Michael Hunt of Bensalem; two brothers, William Straka of Bethlehem and John Straka of Annandale, NJ: a sister, Frances Korpics of Hellertown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Straka and a sister, Helen Snyder. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 9, at 11:00AM in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with the Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Private interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
