- ↑ 7:40pm at home from Cancer of the Prostate. Informant on his certificatewas his son, Carl. Carl reported that George's mother's name wasElizabeth Stoner
- ↑ "George W. Sponseller, 73, of North Canton, life resident of StarkCounty, and for many years actively engaged in business in the County,died from a complication of diseases at his home Friday night at 7:40o'clock. Mr. Sponseller had been in ill health for some time and onlyrecently had been removed to his home from Altman hospital annex,Canton, where he underwent an operation. For the past 46 years Mr.Sponseller had been a resident of North Canton and conducted a generalmerchandising business in the village. Mr. Sponseller was born March 1,1852, on the Waynesburg Road in Canton Township. During the early yearsof his manhood he taught in various rural schools of the County. Laterhe moved to East Sparta and opened a general merchandising store. InMay, 1875, he married Mrs. Lucy Mark and in 1879 moved to North Canton.Besides his wife he is survived by five sons, Homer A., of Bath; Ray O.of Akron; Harvey M., Carl O., and Nat E., all of North Canton; fivedaughters, Mrs. Horace Clark, of Sharon, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Fred Cramer,of Canton; Mrs. Ralph Housley, of Akron; Mrs. Clyde Powell, of NorthCanton; Mrs. Ralph Payne, of Mansfield; three brothers, Samuel, Davidand Augustus Sponseller, all of Canton; and two sisters, Mrs. D. W.Stahl, and Mrs. Charles Lehr, both of Canton; 26 grandchildren and fivegreat-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed."
