Facts and Events
George Albert Smith was born in 1890 at Deddington in Oxfordshire, the son of Edith Sophia Smith formerly Sykes and her husband David Smith, a horsekeeper and farm labourer. Shortly after his birth the family moved back to Luton, where David and Edith had married. George appears in the 1891 census living with his parents at 'Why Ax Ye', which was a much photographed picturesque thatched cottage on Park Street just outside the then built up area. By 1901 the family was living in the town itself at 30 Park Road West. In 1911 the family was living at 46 Cambridge Street, and George was described as a warehouseman working for a straw plait merchant.
George has yet to be traced after the 1911 census.
