OBITUARY

MR. G. H. SHAW Mr. George H. Shaw, who died on board the liner Kanimbla while on holiday and was buried at sea, took a keen interest in returned service men's organisations. He was for 20 years secretary of the Newcastle United Services Club, six years secretary of the Newcastle R.S.L., and for many years president of that sub-branch. In World War 1., Mr. Shaw served in the A.A.M.C. in the hospital ship Karoola. After his discharge in 1919 he was for years a patient in Randwick Repatiation Hospital. Mr. Shaw, who was unmarried, was born at Wickham 57 years ago, but spent most of his life in Tighe's Hill. He was employed in the Divisional Engineer's Office of the Postmaster-Generals' Department.
