BIOGRAPHY:

Was a colonel in Confederate Army under Gen. Beauregard in Civil War. Was lost at sea in 1865 on sailing ship "Alice Smith" bound from NYC to Matamoros Mexico. [JMS]

In the 1880 US Census, the remnants of this family resided in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri, with Jesse Calvert (age 66, born MO, stencil cutter, father born VA, mother born PA). The household included his daughter Mary Seaver (age 40, born MO, school teacher, father born MO, mother born PA) and her son Frank L. Seaver (age 18, born MO, at home, father born MO, mother born PA - probably wrong).
