"Mr. Rogers was born in New Haven, Vermont. He resided for some years at Vergennes, Vt. He took up his residence in Detroit, in 1840, and in the subsequent year removed to Pontiac, where he afterward resided. During his residence among us he has been identified with the best interests of the village, and has ever maintained a true and spotless character in all the relations of life. He was a faithful friend and brother, a kind and affectionate husband and father, and a good man whom a large circle of friends and acquaintances will mourn with sincere sorrow.

Thus has been broken a link connecting the present with the age of the revolution; Mr. Rogers having been born on the very same day and hour which witnessed the last early breath of George Washington. Thus in the mellow evening of a well spent life a good man meets the common fate of all, When such men pass away we all may truly mourn.
Mr. Rogers was a member of the Masonic fraternity, and was one of the founders of the lodge in Pontiac. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. One of his sons, Mr. Forde Rogers, resides in Detroit. His two daughters are married and reside in California."
