Dr. George Allen Jenkins was the only child of Mary Matilda Snook and Thomas Anthony Riley. They lived in Iowa City and then moved to Marengo, Iowa.

When he was 2 years old, his father, Thomas Anthony Riley drowned in the Iowa river while hunting ducks.

His mother Mary taught school in Hartley, Iowa. She met Frank DeWayne Jenkins and they married at Sanborn, IA a year later.

Mr. Jenkins later adopted Allen in Valentine, Nebraska.

In Sept. of 1901, “Dr. Allen Jenkins, then of Lost Creek, was taken to Chicago by Dr. Ralph Early of Albia where he underwent successful surgery for appendicitis.”
