The estate settlement papers refer to George Riffle's Legal wife and Children as living in Ohio and that he had a second family in Lewis Co. George was first married to Margaret Helmick. Seems he walked out on her, leaving her with 2 small children, Deborah and Wilson. Some reaserchers believe that Elias Edward was the son of Margaret and George Strunk Riffle. Possibly she died in childbirth sinc Elias was given to her family to raise. Maybe he left while she was pregnant or was George actually the real father. Some researchers believe a Margaret Helmick married a man by the name of Street. Gives some question that if Elias really was the son of Margaret.
