George Rankin was born about 1781 in Guilford Co.,N.C. He died in April 1828 in Pulaski County, AR near the Maumelle area. He did not marry Nancy Gillespie. He only married Anne McMurray, daughter of James and Elizabeth Brown McMurray. Ann died in Pulaski Co., Ar in 1858. George was the son of Robert and Mary "Polly" Cusick Rankin. Mary Cusick was the daughter of William and Isabella Mebane Cusick. Mary "Polly" died about 1803 and Robert married Mary Moody on 22 Nov. 1803 in Guilford Co., N.C. According to the pension papers of Robert Rankin he was born 29 May 1759 in Guilford Co.,N.C. and died 21 Dec. 1840 in McNairy County, TN. Mary Moody Rankin died in 1854 in McNairy Co.

4. George RANKIN was born in 1782 in Guilford County, North Carolina. He was living between 1782 and 1804 in Guilford County, North Carolina. He was a Farmer/Buffalo Presbyterian Church, between 1797 and 1803 in Guilford County, North Carolina. He Moved in 1804 in McNairy county, Tennessee. He was a Farmer between 1804 and 1807 in McNairy county, Tennessee. He was living between 1804 and 1807 in McNairy county, Tennessee. George Rankin around 1804 moved from the Buffalo Presbyterian church area, (near Greensboro, North Carolina) to McNairy County Tennessee. He Moved in 1807 in Perry county, Arkansas. He and his son Robert, in company with several others traveled up the Arkansas River as far as Cane Hill, Washington County, looking for a suitable location but finally returned to Little Rock, and shortly afterward settled on the Maumelle River about 14 miles southeast of Perryville, Perry County, Arkansas, where he resided until his death. He was living between 1807 and 1813 in Perry county, Arkansas. He moved his family to central Arkansas sometime between 1807 and 1813. George Rankin and his son Robert in company with several others traveled on the Ark River as far as cane hill, Washington county, looking for a suitable location but finally returned to Little Rock and shortly afterward settled on the Maumelle River about fourteen miles south east of Perryville Arkansas He was an Ensign, 2nd co., 2nd Bn in 1814 in Arkansas. He was a Farmer/Maumelle River between 1814 and 1828 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. He was living between 1814 and 1828 in Pulaski county, Arkansas. He owned Land between 1819 and 1828 in Pulaski county, Arkansas. George Rankin appears on the tax lists for Arkansas 1819-1829. 1823 Ark co. AR002; 1828 Pulaski co., AR025 He died in Apr 1828 in Maumelle, Pulaski county, Arkansas.

He was married to Anne MCMURRAY (daughter of James MCMURRAY and Elizabeth L. BROWN) on Nov 22 1803 in Guilford County, North Carolina.
