He died in April 1828 in Pulaski County, AR near the Maumelle area. He did not marry Nancy Gillespie. He only married Anne McMurray, daughter of James and Elizabeth Brown McMurray. Ann died in Pulaski Co., Ar in 1858. George was the son of Robert and Mary "Polly" Cusick Rankin. Mary Cusick was the daughter of William and Isabella Mebane Cusick. Mary "Polly" died about 1803 and Robert married Mary Moody on 22 Nov. 1803 in Guilford Co., N.C. According to the pension papers of Robert Rankin he was born 29 May 1759 in Guilford Co.,N.C. and died 21 Dec. 1840 in McNairy County, TN. Mary Moody Rankin died in 1854 in McNairy Co.
