Dent data Married Miss Amanda M. Stephens on December 12, 1861. He was said to be 22 and his bride 18 when he married. Was exempt from the army services during the Civil War on account of an injured arm. After the death of his first wife, he married Amanda Hill by whom he had two sons and one daughter: Aquilla, Spurgeon, and Cora.
