George W. Petro, who has been a long sufferer from Bright's disease, peacefully passed away March 6, 1900, aged 73 years, 10 months and 2 days. He was born near Connersville May 4, 1826, where he spent the greater part of his life on a farm. On March 13, 1860, he was married to Hannah F. Smalley, and to them five children were born, one daughter preceding him to death. His beloved wife, three sons (Willard, Daniel and Harry) and daughter, Mrs. M.L. Scott of Greenfield, survive and mourn their great loss. In 1876 he moved from Fayette County to Rush County and later to Lewisville. In 1887 he became a resident of Cambridge City. He was quiet and unassuming in his manners, honest and highly esteemed by all. Funeral services at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Riverside.
