Facts and Events
Anne and George met in Dysart, Saskatchewan. George owned a livery stable and dray business. George also hauled and sold water for the town of Dysart at three pails for ten cents. At that time there was no water in Dysart. Imagine what a job that was in winter at 20 to 30 below, climbing stairs with pails full of water. Five years later automation took over, so in 1941 they moved to Markinch, Saskatchewan where George operated a garage and implement repair shop. When George became allergic to the dust, oil and gas fumes, they sold out and moved to Windsor, Ontario in 1944. There, Anne and George partnered in a grocery store with Anne's sister's families (Nick and Mary Vaseleniuck and Helen and George Kostescu) for a few years. They then moved on and bought rental units which they later sold to the city. They bought a home on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Belleriver, Ontario where the family enjoyed fishing, boating, waterskiing and many family get-togethers. In 1981 they sold their lakefront home and bought a home in Mobile Park in Essex, Ontario, and in 1989 they moved into a new home in Tecumseh, Ontario. Lastly in 2004 they moved to Oak Park Terrace Retirement Centre in Windsor, Ontario. |
