!DOCUMENTATION Information from: Nick DeRose, 38 Marlboro St., Hudson, MA 01749-2846 Telephone: 508-568-1519 The Howard Story George Neel was a farmer in the Wakarusa Valley, Douglas Co, KS. He was a neighbor to Josephus and Martha Cade. His 160 acre farm was known as the Doolittle Place because of a former owner. The father of George was a wealthy man who lived in Pennsylvania. He purchased the farm for George. It was well equiped and stocked. George prospered on it and married his neighbor's youngest daughter, Eva Cade after living there 6 to 8 years. In 1891 ( I can't make out all the writing, but will do my best A.W.) I can't tell if George and the children went to Pennsylvania or if George and Eva and their children went to Pennsylvania (looks like he missed his family there). After a couple of years, George (? looks like he paid them, all coming back to Kansas! They were living on the farm in 1895. Later Eva divorced George. She moved West with the children, probably living with some of her brother or sisters. There are notes saying that she may have been living in New Mexico or California. Another note says she may have lived in Ogden, Utah. |
