Research Notes
- He was a Captain in the U.S. Army during the War with Mexico, serving in most of the battles from Vera Cruz to Mexico City. Later, during the War Between the States, he was a Maj in the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry, C.S.A., Wounded 17 Oct 1862 in battle near Ashland, Kentucky, and survived ten days. He served in Basil W. Duke's regiment, under the command of Gen. John Hunt Morgan.
