George MILNE was the first superintendant of the Glasgow Necropolis. The second official interment was Elizabeth MYLNE, the mother of George, wife of George MYLNE, in 1833. George MILNE was in the same regiment as James MCINTOSH, who married Stuart BELL (see: „Sketches of Glasgow Necropolis“ G. Blair). Glasgow PO Directory 1841 listed George Milne, superintendent of the Merchants House cemetery and quarries, house Westercraigs.After the death of Agnes Bell George Milne remarried (family letters). In 1841 George Milne lived at Ashton, Innerkip, Renfrewshire with Agness (b. 1806), Agness LeNeve (b. 1836, England?) and 2 servants (census). In 1851 Agnes Milne (b. 1809 Glasgow), head, annuitant, lived with daughters Agnes LeNeve (b. 1837 London, England), Jessie (b.1842 Glasgow) and Margaret Milne (b.1843 Glasgow) at Ardbeg Point, Rothesay (census).
