Unlike that of Sarah, the sources of the birth and death dates that I have found as of October 2004, do not correspond for George McClanahan. A Margaret Tompkins note is my source for the middle names of Marcus and Samuel for George McClanahan. Also, she wrote that his birth date was February 8, 1844 and his death was September 24, 1894. The Fayette County Cemetery Index for the Harrah Cemetery, Backus Mountain, shows that Geo. McClanahan b. 1866 d.1891. In this case, I will trust Margaret Tompkins since 1866 is so much later than that of Sarah's own birth in 1851.
