George Lawrence [b ca 1635] divided his 830 acre grant [1686] in 1692 among three Lawrences whom we assume to be his sons: John, James and Henry. [In 1704 th Nansemond County Quit Rents Roll shows the results of this division Jno. Lawrence - 100 ac; Geo. Lawrence - 400 ac; Henry Lawrence - 200 acres; James Lawrence - 100 ac] Only the deed to his son John is among the Lawrence papers listed above, so we might surmise this John Lawrence to be Lemuel Lawrence' ancestor.
