"Mr. George1 Lamberton was an original proprietor of New Haven, but not a subscriber to the "Fundamental Agreement." He was admitted member of the Court, 1 Sept. 1640. He was appointed, 6 Apr. 1643, member of an advisory board to consult with the commissioners of the United Colonies. He was chosen, 26 Oct. 1643, and again on 30 Oct. 1645, Deputy for the Jurisdiction Court, and was chosen Deputy for New Haven, 30 Oct. 1643, 25 Mar. 1644, and 21 Oct. 1644. Early in 1641, he had six heads in his household, and his estate was rated at £1000. He was engaged in mercantile pursuits, and in 1643 was Master of a pinnace, the Cock. In that year, being interested in the Delaware trading venture, he was for a time held prisoner by the Swedes. On 5 Aug. 1644, as a member of a committee of three, he recommended (with his colleagues) a plan of Harbor improvement, which was adopted. In Jan. 1645/6, he sailed for England as Captain of the 'Great Ship,' which was lost at sea with all on board. His estate inventoried at over £1202."[2] References
