George H Kleis George H. Kleis. 59, of R.2, Rapid .City, died Sunday morning at his home after a sudden illness. The son of the late Henry and Hattie (Schippers) Kleis. he was born at Holland. Mich., on Oct. 9. 1916, and was married to Edna Van on Aug. 25,1942 at Rapid City. Mr. Kleis lived in Kalkaska County from 1945 to 1957 when he moved to the Holland-Grand Haven area where he was in commercial radio broadcasting. He owned and operated radio station i WGHN. Grand Haven, from 1964-1972. He returned to Kalkaska County in 1972 and was employed as an engineer by television station WGTU in Traverse City. He is survived by his wife. Edna; two daughters. Mrs. Donald J. (Opal) Chilson of Williamsburg and Mrs. Alan (Dana) Holleman of Galien: two brothers, Harvey and Raymond, both of Holland. Mich.: three sisters. Mrs. John (Jean) Raak and Mrs. Harvey (Marian) Scholten, both of Holland. Mich., and Mrs. Vaughn (Elaine) Jensen of Jackson: his stepmother, Mrs. Henry Kleis of Zeeland; a stepbrother Harvey Kragt of Holland. Mich.: two step-sisters, Mrs. James (Wilma) Weatherwax and Mrs. Dennis (Lois) Steinfort, both of Holland, Mich.: and four grandchildren. The funeral was held this afternoon at Faith Reformed Church of Traverse City, of which he was a member. The Rev. Warren Burgess officiated. Burial was in Clearwater Township cemetery, Kalkaska County. Funeral arrangements were handled by Schwartz-Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Record-Eagle, Traverse City, Michigan, 6 Jul 1976. |
