George Valentine Kempson was born in 1897 at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, son of Alice Mary Ann Kempson, formerly Guess, and her husband Frederick Kempson, a straw hat packer. George's older brother had been born in Luton in 1895 and his younger sister would be born in Luton in 1900, suggesting either that the family did not stay long in Leighton Buzzard, or that George was not born at home - perhaps at relatives of his mother's (who was born in Leighton Buzzard).

George appears in the 1901 and 1911 census living with his parents and siblings at addresses in the southern suburbs of Luton.

George died in 1915, aged just 18.
