Largo, Fla., Formerly of Jeannette
George E. Kasparek, 86, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Jeannette, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Largo Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1917, in Jeannette, a son of the late Frank and Edith Loughner Kasparek. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and F.O.E. 844, both of Jeannette, D.A.V., and St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Clearwater, Fla., where he was a longtime usher, volunteered at many church bingos and belonged to the St. Vincent DePaul Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie M. Kasparek; and a brother, Floyd Kasparek. He is survived by a son, Timothy G. Kasparek and his wife, Molly, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jeff and Sheryn; two sisters, Ruth Vargo, of Jeannette, and Patty Shumaker, of Greensburg; a sister-in-law, June Kasparek, of Williamsburg, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
