History of Newbury, MA, 1635-1902 by John J. Currier, page 491; December 6, 1849, George W. Jackman, jr., bought of Mary W. and Eleanor Moggaridge land with buildings thereon, "called the Moggaridge estate." He also purchased the adjoining ship-yard, previously owned by his brother Stephen Jackman, jr., and in 1850 built his first vessel, the bark "Hollander," 525 tons register.
