Will Transcript
- To the name of God Amen: I George Harbison of Jessamine County and State of Kentucky being sick of body but in my right mind blessed be God for it, and calling to mind the transitory state of present life that ll men must yield unto death have though fit to make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby disapproving all other wills and testaments heretofore, by me made either by word or writing and I do ordain this and this only to be my last will and testament and committing my soul unto the hand of God and my body to be buried with decent and Christian burial by my executors hereafter named I do order wordly affairs to be disposed of in form and manner following viz:
- First I will that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid in as short a time as possible after my decease also I bequeath to Nancy Evans my horse and cow and bed and furniture, also James Evans my saddle and bridle, also my landed property to be sold to the best advantage by my executors and the money when got to be divided as followeth.
- Hannah Welch ten dollars, Polly Welch, Susan and Jenny McKinney, ten dollars a piece, Jenny, Molly and Betsy Evans Ten dollars a piece.
- Polly McConnell ten dollars, Sary and Polly Crothers ten dollars each also all the trouble and the expenses that is or may occur in my disputes with others about my land that my executors pay themselves, and the balance to be divided as followeth . First one third to Nathaniel Evans, second one third to Andrew Evans, Third one third to William McConnell I do appoint and ordain Nathaniel Evans and William McConnell to be my executors of this my last will and testament in witness there of I have herunto set my hand this six day of Nov. 1812

- The within Last Will and Testament of George Harbison, deceased, was this day produced in court proved by the oath of William Evans and Robert Phillips and ordered to record.

George Harbison son Of William Sr. who died in Batetourt County, Virginia in 1775, was perhaps born around 1732. He served in Byrds Expedition from Virginia in 1759-1760. The object of the expedition was to drive the Cherokee Indians from their siege on Fort Loudon. The Fort was located on Little Tennessee River near its confluence with the Tennessee River. George recieved a land grant in Montgomery Co. Virginia from King George III for that Military service during the French and Indian War. George Harbison produced satisfactory proof to this court Montgomery County, May 1, 1781 that he served as a regular soldier on the Expedition in 1760 in Captain Smiths Company under the command of Col. William Byrd, that he continued in said service until legally discharged and that he hath never before obtained a warrant for said land under the King of Great Britian Proclamation of 1763.
Virginia Land Grants in Kentucky 1782-1792 George Harbison was granted 400 acres in Fayette County on the Clear Creek, July 12, 1783.
