    In 1733, Joseph Pavey was apparently one of James Oglethorpe's Indian Trader’s and Ranger’s. Joseph Pavey applied for a land grant in South Carolina (on the Congaree River) and bought land from George Haig, Sr.

    George Haig, Sr., took a Native American, of Keowee for a wife and was married to Elizabeth Seawright Likewise, Joseph Peavy took a Native American Dial, Waccamaw Siouan, for a wife, and he married Jane Dyall.
