    From records at the National Archives: Enlistment Papers - George W. Foote was 19 years old on October 1, 1861, 6 ft. 2 inches, light complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair. Discharge Papers - Discharged July 9, 1863 because of wounds suffered at Chancillorsville, Virginia , May 2, 1863. He was a Corporal, Company E, Regiment 55, Infantry, Ohio. His right arm almost useless condition - also total blindness in left eye. Certificate of Death - Age 54 years, 9 months, 24 days, died 85 Howell St., 4th Ward, Hillsdale, Michigan.
