Deep Sea Diver Paragraph below picture that hangs in Seaman's Museum in Grand Bank: "George Diamond, born in Trinity Bay and a resident of Grand Bank from the age of four, was a pioneer in the Newfoundland diving industry. The diving suit below was worn by him in repairing dry docks at Harbour Granc, Burin, Grand Bank and Saint Pierre. During World War II, Mr. Diamond was employed by the Foundation Maritime to repair damaged ships. From 1944 to 1946 he was employed to remove explosives and other cargo from the 14,000 ton, 450' freighter, "Beaverhill" which ran aground and blocked the harbour at Saint John, New Brunswick." |
