George W. Daugherty married Sarah L. Campbell on 16 November, 1832 and they had a total of eight children: Mary J., Nancy E., Susan E., William H., Sarah A., George, Leander, and Noah Daugherty. As per the usual historical recorded entries into forms, court records and Census the surname of DOUGHERTY is entered either way, i.,e., DOUGHERTY and or DAUGHERTY. In the Orange County, Indiana Census Index it is entered as George W. Daugherty, even though his father spelled his name as John S DOUGHERTY. I guess as long as they called him to dinner it did not matter which way they spelled his name?
