George Washington Crago entered the service in Company D of the 89th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on July 24, 1862. He had his right leg taken off in the battle of Checkamauga and was required to lay on the battle field for nine days. He was in hospitals at Chattanooga, Nashville and Louisville until being discharged at Louisville, on Feb. 3,1864.[1] References
