Facts and Events
Residence: Daylesford, VIC. Records: VIC m1888/7756 No.26 in Register of District of Creswick. Occupation: Butcher [edit] IdentityIt is possible that this confuses 2 different George Browns. It appears that his marriage record indicates that he was born 1858 in Lambeth, England, and identifies his father as George Edward Brown, a miner, and his mother as Elizabeth Edwards. The only George Brown born about 1858 in Lambeth, England with parents George and Elizabeth in the 1861 census of England is George William Edward, whose father George was a railway porter or railway guard in various census years. It is assumed that this is the correct person. However, the 1861 census also has a George Brown born about 1857 in Lambeth whose father George is a joiner (possibly the "miner" was a mis-transcription of "joiner"). (The joiner's wife is Caroline as of the 1861 census.) References
