Early Land Acquisition in Orange County, VA
Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:
- Pages 184-88. 10-11 Nov. 1735. Jacob Stauber (Stover) of Sharrando in Orange County, yeoman to George Boon of Oley in Philad[elphi]a County, Pennsylvania, Esq. Lease and release; for £29 current money of Pennsylvania. Two tracts near the end of the North Mountain on a small branch of Sharrando River in Virginia... one containing 500 acres... the other tract near adjoining... containing 1,000 acres part of 5,000 acres laid out for Jacob Stauber (Stover) by an order by the Honourable Council of Virginia 7 June 1730 and likewise by order of His Majesty's Lieutenant Governour dated 19 Feb. 1732/3 and confirmed by patent 15 Dec. 1733. (signed) Jacob (J) Stauber. Wit: Mardecai Linion (Lincoln?) [?], Seargt. Hughes. 16 Dec. 1735. Acknowledged by Jacob Stauber. [Orange County Virginia Deed Book 1, Dorman, pg. 15].

“GEORGE BOONE IV. (the eldest Son of George & Mary Boone) was born in the Town of Bradninch aforesaid, on the 13th of July 1690 about ½ H. past 5 in the Afternoon; and died in Exeter Township aforesaid, on the 20 November 1753; in the 64th Year of his Age. He taught School for several Years near Philadelphia; was a good Mathematician, and taught the Several Branches of English Learning; and was a Magistrate for several Years. His wife’s maiden name was Deborah Howell. She died in 1759 January 26.”

To son Jeremiah, plantation called "Andrew Saduskies" in Amity Township. To 3 daus., viz., Mary, Deborah and Dina £50 each. To my grandchildren, George and Jane HUGHES, children of dear dau.
