[Note: this memorial indicates that Ira Batchelder was his spouse. It is indicated that the two stones are next to each other. But no words on the stone, nor any record of such a marriage support this assertion. Further, it appears Ira's stone was misread, he dying 1884, not 1881, meaning he is probably George's brother, explaining the proximity of the stones. He appears in the 1850 census with his father living in his household [1], later moving to Iowa where he was living in 1880.]
