George Baker was baptised on 8th March 1829 at Lyminster in Sussex, son of George and Mary Baker. He appears in the 1841 census living with his parents and siblings in Lyminster. The 1851 census finds him visiting a family named Dench in Lyminster.
On 23rd February 1856, aged about 27, George married a widow named Eliza Edwards, formerly Horner. She was about eighteen years his senior, being about 45 when they married. The 1861 census finds them living at the Spotted Cow in Angmering.
Eliza died in 1870. They had been married for about fourteen years. George appears in the 1871 census lodging at the Windmill Inn in Rustington, and working as a thatcher. He has yet to be traced after 1871.

ch. 8 Mar 1829, Lyminster, Sussex: George son of George & Mary Baker
Needs to be confirmed at West Sussex Record Office. This baptism has been linked to the George Baker who married Eliza Horner in 1870 on the basis that their marriage certificate names his father as George Baker and in the census after their marriage he claimed to have been born around 1829 in Lyminster.
