died in morning at his residence, 6 miles from Florence. "Lauderdale County mourns the loss of him who was a most clever citizen and ever useful member of society. Urbane in his manner,To hospitable intent inclined", always courteous and affable in his long and varied intercourse with his fellow men, he has gone down to the grave leaving a name that is now, and will remain,one of the many memories of our town and country."-The Florence Journal 18 Oct 1866.
