A bio of George G Alford in the New Madrid papers states that George G. was reared on Lake Champlain and Cayuga, N.Y. It states his family recorded dates back many years, to a close relationship with the Mallorys and General Ethan Allen of Revolutionary fame, the hero of Ticonderoga. The family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1815, then an obscure French and Indian village. Son, George G. went to New Madrid, MO. in 1819 and married Christine, the youngest daughter of Francois le Sieur IV in 1821. It was claimed George was the first Mayor of Detroit, Michigan, but that seems not to be true.

George G. went to New Madrid, Missouri in 1819 and married Christine, the youngest daughter of Francois le Sieur IV in 1821.
