Genevieve Esther Holly

Genevieve Esther Holly, daughter of Frank and Emma Scheffert Holly, was born April 5, 1916, in Monona. She died Friday, Sept. 24, 1993, at the Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis. She was 77.

"Gen" attended school in Monona. Later, she worked in Waterloo and obtained her beautician license. In Monona, she worked for IGA for many years and also at the post office. In later years, she took special care of her elderly parents and other relatives. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona.

She was preceded in death by her mother Emma in 1952; her father Frank in 1964; a brother Walter in 1958; a brother Lester in 1969; and a nephew Clifford in 1953.

She is survived by a nephew, Gary Holly and his wife Peggy of Raleigh, N.C.; a niece, Bonnie Holly of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Eva Holly of Cedar Rapids; two grand nieces, Connie Holly Parks and Christa Holly, both of Raleigh, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1993, at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was at the Monona City Cemetery. Arrangements were by Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona.

MONONA Genevieve E. Holly, 77, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., formerly of Monona, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1993, in Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Burial: Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, Monona. There are no immediate survivors.
