    Bio: Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. Served in the Civil War first as a Captain on the 1st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was then detailed to staff work, first as a Lieutenant Colonel and Assistant Adjutant General and Chief of Staff to Maj. Gen. Alexander McD. McCook, then as Acting Judge Advocate on the staff of Maj. Gen. George H. Thomas. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on March 13, 1865 for "meritorious services generally during the war, and particularly for gallant and meritorious conduct at the battles of Stone's River, Tenn., and Chickamauga, Ga.". He was the nephew of Union Brig. Gen. Charles M. Thruston.
