Gary served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He entered the army on March 30, 1967. He was discharged on December 3, 1969. He served in the 919th Engr. Com, 11th ACR USARV. He was a heavy truck driver.

Gary is buried in Howell Cemetery, Milford Township, Barton County, Missouri.

    Nashville, Missouri - Gary Dean Rector, 47, of the Nashville community in Barton County, was killed at 11 p.m. Thursday in a shooting at his home. Authorities said the death was a homicide.

    Mr. Rector was born May 3, 1944, at Sheldon. He lived in the Oronogo-Jasper area most of his life. He was a station operator at Judy's Truck Stop in Jasper. He was an Army; veteran of the Vietnam War.

    Survivors include his wife, Annette Rector; a daughter, Amber Nicole Rector, of the home; his mother, Opal Rector, Jasper; a brother, Jerry Rector, Carthage; and a sister, Roma Jean Vier, Kansas City.

    Arrangements are pending with Selvey Funeral Home, Jasper.
